What could the Governor have done to securely bring back Evans to prison, when he caught him at the Golden Lion? Does this final act of foolishness really prove that he went just another good-for-a-giggle, Governor, that is all?

When the Governor caught Evans at the Golden Lion, he could have called his senior prison officer like Jackson or Stephens with a vehicle. After undergoing so many experiences of deceit, he should not have believed the local police. He just rang up the local police station and boarded the van standing outside. He made no enquiry and Evans got a chance to escape. So his act of foolishness proves that he was just an another good-for-a-giggle, gullible Governor that was all.
